KEA Technologies Awarded Federal Highway Administration Technical Support Services Contract
Engineering Company Will Address Multi-Factor Crash Analysis
Littleton, MA – June 1, 2022 – KEA Technologies (KEA), a provider of engineering services, product development, and independent lab testing services announced today that it has been chosen by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Office of Safety Research & Development (R&D) to provide a Multiple-Award Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) for Technical Support Services for the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) Office of Safety Research and Development. KEA will apply its vast engineering and scientific experience to analyze traffic crashes: why they occur, key factors that lead to varying levels of crash severity and provide an understanding of what leads to different levels of injury outcomes. The agreement is a five-year contract.
KEA is a leading North American engineering services firm and has worked with numerous transportation entities to provide research and engineering for improved safety and operations. For FHWA, KEA will specifically research and analyze the combination of contributing factors to crashes and the resulting impacts. These include human factors, vehicle factors - including connected and automated vehicle elements – physical environment factors – including roadway and roadside factors – and demographic and socioeconomic factors.

The KEA engineering team will also provide multidisciplinary support to build data-driven optimization strategies that address safety and operations. The project may include other disciplines that support the needs of the infrastructure owners and operators as needed.
