Senior Chemist

POSITION SUMMARY

KEA Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Chemist. The qualified applicant will become an integral member of multi-disciplinary team including engineering professionals and subject-matter experts.This position is a senior position on the chemistry lab team which is focused on testing of devices for use in various transportation safety fields.KEA is an ISO 17025 accredited independent testing lab.In addition to acting as a test lab, the KEA Chemistry team work to develop test methods and standard calibration devices as well as doing research and development to support internal engineering development and human subject testing programs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This position reports directly to the Director of Laboratory Testing Services. Responsibilities include:

  • Manages junior members of the laboratory staff, providing guidance both on day to day activities and on employee development.
  • Conducts Experiments and independently analyzes data.
  • Provides written and oral reports on progress to the project team and senior Management.
  • Develops Calibration methods and calibration standards required for testing of the novel device.
  • Proactively researches, evaluates, develops, and recommends new policies, SOPs, and methods to achieve laboratory goals and requirements.
  • Responsible for care, maintenance, and calibration of equipment to ensure efficient operations.
  • Co-ordinates with vendors to ensure that laboratory instruments are serviced and calibrated as required.
  • Provides guidance on purchase of new equipment and technology required to support the lab.
  • Oversees proper storage, handling, and usage of hazardous materials.
  • Maintains ISO 17025 compliance and implements quality assurance programs.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of five years of work experience in a laboratory.
  • PhD degree in a chemistry discipline or BS and an additional 5 years of experience in a professional laboratory position.
  • Experience preparing calibration standards (solids, liquids, gas, and gels).
  • Experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited lab or other highly regulated lab environment, such as working in an FDA regulated industry
  • Strong analytical chemistry skills using a variety of techniques such as FTIR, HPLC, UV spectroscopy etc.
  • Experience testing gasses or gas measuring devices
  • Demonstrated independence in the laboratory and in problem solving through careful experiment design, data analysis.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

Mechanical Technician

Position Summary

KEA Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Prototype Technician. The qualified applicant will become an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team including engineering professionals and subject-matter experts. In this role, you will be responsible for working closely with the engineering team to provide hands-on support for prototype builds, testing and validation of fixtures, sensor systems, and maintaining an effective prototype lab environment. You will have ownership and responsibility for overseeing aspects of prototype fabrication and low-rate production build providing technical support and monitoring schedule status. You will assume responsibility for results-based deliverables in direct support of the company’s exciting initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently in the absence of supervision to assist the engineering or science team in the use, fabrication, installation and testing of complex prototypes, equipment, and samples in the shop and in the field.
  • Receive and check CAD files, ensuring files are to correct scale, size within constraints of the chosen Rapid Prototyping (RP) technology, and in printable condition (‘normal’s’, wall thicknesses, etc).
  • Process in house SLS and 3D prints, including required model post processes and equipment maintenance.
  • Manage prototype lab facilities and equipment through acquisition, calibration, maintenance and storage activities.
  • Fabricate equipment and/or develop and implement evaluation procedures for the testing of concepts and samples produced by the engineering/science team.
  • Conduct experiments in accordance with documented protocols
  • Troubleshoot equipment and fixtures in the shop and in the field where required.
  • Complete reports and summaries of work.
  • Read and interpret detailed mechanical drawings and electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Contribute to system architecture development, identifying design and production methods for the rapid and efficient development of new design concepts.
  • Ensure team focus on design goals and engineering quality.
  • Assist staff and initiate continuous improvement.
  • Follow OSHA safety protocols.

Qualifications & Desired Skills

  • Associates degree or equivalent military service in a technical rating.
  • Self-motivated, able to take responsibility, and a flexible attitude.
  • Possess a willingness and ability to learn additional technical skills within the automobile, rail, and defense industries.
  • Technical knowledge of computers, electrical assembly, basic electronic troubleshooting, mechanical assembly and repair, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and audio visual equipment operation.
  • Light fabrication, hand tool use, machine tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess excellent troubleshooting skills to efficiently identify and resolve design and production issues during all phases of product research and development or during system installations.
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment and lab practices.
  • Familiar with document controls, revision control and change process.
  • Candidate should be well organized, detail oriented, and able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Able to follow process instructions accurately and consistently.
  • This position requires strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment advancing the state of the art and creating highly innovative devices
  • The ability to understand equipment operation and able to identify potential problems with the equipment through observation and to escalate resolution to the next level.
  • Periodic travel may be required.

Software Developer

Position Summary

KEA Technologies, Inc. is currently looking for a talented individual for the position of Software Developer. If you are a qualified applicant that is highly motivated, enthusiastic about innovative R&D design and are looking to become an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team including engineering professionals and subject-matter experts, KEA can provide an exciting opportunity. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and debugging various software components and tools for Yocto Project, writing and testing applications for embedded Linux systems and creating key documentation such as Design Documents and Test Plans. You will have ownership and responsibility for overseeing key aspects of prototype/product development providing technical support and monitoring schedule status. You will assume responsibility for results-based deliverables in direct support of the company’s exciting initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • BS with 2+ years of experience or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Related Equivalent
  • Strong C, C++, BASH programming and debugging skills
  • Some experience with python is desired.
  • Experience with the Yocto Project is a plus.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in embedded Linux environment.
  • Experience with developing or customizing board support packages (BSP) desired
  • Experience with embedded systems and Linux kernel/driver development is a plus
  • Familiarity with the Linux operating system internals, kernel modules are a plus
  • Experience with source control (Git)
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN, UART, I2C, SPI.
  • Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good organizational and writing abilities are desirable.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
