Electronics Technician

Position Summary

KEA Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Electronics Technician. If you are a qualified applicant that is highly motivated, enthusiastic about innovative R&D design and are looking to become an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team including engineering professionals and subject-matter experts, KEA can provide an exciting opportunity.

In this role, you will be responsible for working closely with the engineering team to provide hands-on support for prototype builds, testing and validation of sensor systems, and maintaining an effective electronics lab environment. You will bring your proficiency in electronics design, test and troubleshooting along with your creativity and collaborative spirit to solve unique problems. You will have ownership and responsibility for overseeing aspects of prototype fabrication and low-rate production build providing technical support and monitoring schedule status. You will assume responsibility for results-based deliverables in direct support of the company’s exciting initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build prototypes / proof of concept mounts and brackets
  • Develop and fabricate mechanical and electro-mechanical fixtures, jigs, and test set-ups used to interface products with data acquisition equipment
  • Perform engineering tests including data acquisition, analysis, and documentation
  • Perform failure and root cause analysis
  • Complete test reports
  • Generate and maintain testing processes and procedures
  • Identify and perform preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Install custom and off the shelf hardware components and electrical circuits/systems using manufacturer's and or existing internal documentation
  • Build, assemble, wire and generate drawings for electrical enclosures
  • Troubleshoot and debug electrical systems and components
  • Identify overlooked or excluded design elements of electrical systems and then formulate and suggest solutions to designers and responsible engineers
  • Maintain a clean work environment
  • Manage and maintain a tool inventory necessary for executing daily tasks
  • Manage and maintain a consumables inventory necessary for executing daily tasks

Job Requirements

  • Associates degree in a technical discipline strongly preferred or applicable technical expertise with 10+ years of experience
  • Experience working with electronics fabrication and assembly – surface mount technology, soldering, rework and reflow
  • Experience working with electronics test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Equipment automation or programming experience is a plus
  • Ability to work both collaboratively with teams and independently to complete tasks on-time

Desired Characters

  • Experience working with 12V, 24V and 48V vehicle electrical systems – including passenger, light-duty, and heavy-duty vehicles. Experience with CAN and OBD2 is a plus
  • Experience working in an R&D product development environment
  • Proven electrical and mechanical aptitudes
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and test specifications

Research Chemist - Spectroscopy

POSITION SUMMARY

KEA Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a Research Chemist. The qualified applicant will become an integral member of multi-disciplinary team including engineering professionals and subject-matter experts. The qualified applicant will lead KEA's effort in collaboration with external team members in developing a spectroscopy based sensor.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This position reports directly to the Director of Laboratory Testing Services. Responsibilities include:

  • Leads KEA's effort in collaboration with external team members in developing a spectroscopy based sensor
  • Conducts Experiments and independently analyzes data.
  • Provides written and oral reports on progress to the project team and senior Management.
  • Develops Calibration methods and calibration standards required for testing of the novel device.
  • Mentors junior members of the laboratory staff, providing guidance both on day to day activities and on employee development.
  • Proactively researches, evaluates, develops, and recommends new policies, SOPs, and methods to achieve laboratory goals and requirements.
  • Responsible for care, maintenance, and calibration of equipment to ensure efficient operations.
  • Co-ordinates with vendors to ensure that laboratory instruments are serviced and calibrated as required.
  • Provides guidance on purchase of new equipment and technology required to support the lab.
  • Oversees proper storage, handling, and usage of hazardous materials.
  • Maintains ISO 17025 compliance and implements quality assurance programs.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • PhD degree in a chemistry discipline.
  • Minimum of five years of experience working in a laboratory.
  • Extensive experience with vibrational spectroscopy applications (FTIR or NIR spectroscopy).Candidates should have a strong capability to interpret infrared spectral features.
  • Experience with spectral analysis techniques and chemometric modeling techniques for the quantification of trace aqueous analytes.Noninvasive in-vivo NIR spectral measurement experience is desired (e.g., glucose, ethanol).
  • Should be familiar with FTIR instrumentation and sampling techniques to acquire spectral standards.
  • Ability to perform data analysis using statistics, multivariate calibration software, and spectroscopy software. Matlab programming skills are desired.
  • Demonstrated independence in the laboratory and in problem solving through careful experiment design, data analysis.
  • Candidate should have strong chemistry skills with the ability to quantitatively build aqueous sample sets and should have experience with wet chemistry and polymer chemistry.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

Mechanical Technician

Position Summary

KEA Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Prototype Technician. The qualified applicant will become an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team including engineering professionals and subject-matter experts. In this role, you will be responsible for working closely with the engineering team to provide hands-on support for prototype builds, testing and validation of fixtures, sensor systems, and maintaining an effective prototype lab environment. You will have ownership and responsibility for overseeing aspects of prototype fabrication and low-rate production build providing technical support and monitoring schedule status. You will assume responsibility for results-based deliverables in direct support of the company’s exciting initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently in the absence of supervision to assist the engineering or science team in the use, fabrication, installation and testing of complex prototypes, equipment, and samples in the shop and in the field.
  • Receive and check CAD files, ensuring files are to correct scale, size within constraints of the chosen Rapid Prototyping (RP) technology, and in printable condition (‘normal’s’, wall thicknesses, etc).
  • Process in house SLS and 3D prints, including required model post processes and equipment maintenance.
  • Manage prototype lab facilities and equipment through acquisition, calibration, maintenance and storage activities.
  • Fabricate equipment and/or develop and implement evaluation procedures for the testing of concepts and samples produced by the engineering/science team.
  • Conduct experiments in accordance with documented protocols
  • Troubleshoot equipment and fixtures in the shop and in the field where required.
  • Complete reports and summaries of work.
  • Read and interpret detailed mechanical drawings and electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Contribute to system architecture development, identifying design and production methods for the rapid and efficient development of new design concepts.
  • Ensure team focus on design goals and engineering quality.
  • Assist staff and initiate continuous improvement.
  • Follow OSHA safety protocols.

Qualifications & Desired Skills

  • Associates degree or equivalent military service in a technical rating.
  • Self-motivated, able to take responsibility, and a flexible attitude.
  • Possess a willingness and ability to learn additional technical skills within the automobile, rail, and defense industries.
  • Technical knowledge of computers, electrical assembly, basic electronic troubleshooting, mechanical assembly and repair, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and audio visual equipment operation.
  • Light fabrication, hand tool use, machine tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Electrical Design Engineer

You will bring your proficiency in analog design, mixed-signal electronics and electronics systems development, systems integration, and laboratory and operational testing. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Apply fundamental engineering concepts (esp. circuit design, analog-to-digital converters, and signal processing) to solve complex, novel, and unfamiliar problems
  • Design sensor interfaces and signal conditioning paradigms to meet customer requirements, especially designing for EMC/EMI & ESD robustness
  • Support PCB design processes such as schematic & layout capture software, fabrication, assembly
  • Influence positive outcomes through clear and concise communication of complex information to peers, managers, and customers
  • Continuously improve the design process by ensuring best practices and tools are evaluated and used
  • Execution of testing based upon various standard specifications (SAE, ISO, CE, UL, etc.), analyze data and prepare test reports

Qualifications & Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering (completed prior to start date) with 0-5 years of industry experience
  • Experience with sensor interface systems, optical interfaces and equipment, communications equipment and systems, controls equipment, power conditioning and electrical distribution systems is desired
  • Familiarity with traditional manufacturing methods and processes for electronics and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Proficiency with C/C++, Matlab, Python, Labview for automation and data processing is preferred
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, team environment with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results.
  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers.
